Love Handles

Love handles usually mean the fat hanging off one's sides. Of this, I have plenty. Apparently, this is not favorable - not even for a food-loving cook. I know this, not because of what society tells me or what I see in magazines or how the people look around me look... but because I don't feel healthy. Numbers on a scale are one thing; my well-being is another. So I have taken it upon myself (and am begging God for extraordinary willpower) to lose the love handles this year. Forty pounds worth of 'em to be exact. It won't be easy, but I've done it before. And I have 8 months. So far, 5 down. That makes 35 to go...

Don't ask me to bake you a cake. Unless you like angel food cake. Sorry, it's just asking for failure. And angel food cake, the way I make it, is quite good.

The good think about being a little cook when changing your eating habits is that you can have fun with it. I have found a million ideas on just the food side of things (still working up to exercise). You may be thinking that I'm on a diet. You would be wrong. A diet is a short, miserable experiment in shocking the body to make it want to keel over and surrender (aka DIE). I have never done of these 'diets' like Tuna and Pineapple, or SlimFast, or HerbaLife, or 16 glasses of water and saltines. They all sound awful. And while I do love the little 100-calorie packs, they only get you so far. You can't exactly lose 40 pounds on cookies and crackers, and not pass out. No, siree.

I'm going to experiment with other kinds of 100-calorie snacks, like this one:

Wish me luck!

I support you and wish you the best of luck!

You can do it!

If these little healthy snacks of yours are any good (which im sure they are), i'll think about joining you on this "life style" change.

Oh sista, I support thee! I am also feeling the effects of a lot of bad food choices and crazy crash diets. I've gone up and down the scale so many times my metabolism is all whacked out. I have also been trying to reduce portions and make better choices in the hopes of slimming down this year. Congrats on the 5 pounds loss! Keep it up :)

Alright Anne Marie! You can do it! :-)
And those snacks look yummy. You should have a 100 calorie party! Eh? Eh?

And I guess this means no more red velvet cake. *tears* It's cool, I understand. ;-)

Have fun with this venture!

I totally support you. Just eat like a normal person, but within the pyramid. My Fitness professor last semester told the class that if you follow it and excercise, shoot for 1 pound a week and you'll lose about 52 lbs in a year. Good luck
