Some Small Redemption
I had to share this, from one of my girls (Pilar) serving in Chalco, Mexico: "...There is a sacrifice in the moment we choose peace over the wide road of spite, because in that moment we sacrifice our own flesh and join Christ in the agony of being the one to choose mercy. It's like pushing through a heavy curtain of what seems to be perfectly alright, everybody else is doing it - being spiteful, holding resentments, feeling sorry for ourselves, hating people. We join Him in choosing that path, in giving up on what the vengeful world says is right (i.e. Eye for an Eye). When we do this it's never because others are doing it, since this path has never been popular; we don't do it because it's easy or comfortable, because it is the narrow path and the one you yourself must create in the wild bush. We choose His way of forgiving the unforgivable and loving the unlovable because we want our souls to survive, and because we can trust in Him that the redemption never comes until after the sacrifice."
