I just can't wait to get on the road again...
Well, today was an 'on the road' day. After a gigantic apple fritter/cinnamon roll/pecan roll breakfast, we rolled ourselves out of the Silver Saddle Cafe, and into a coffee shop.
(Gluttons for punishment, arent we? Or maybe just gluttons?) I got a Snickerdoodle coffee at Mugs. Also phenomenal. And then we hit the road. From Ft.Collins, around Denver, through middle of nowhere Colorado (which happens to be beautiful) and we stopped for lunch at Amicas. They have wood fired oven pizza and root beer on tap. We pressed after lunch to Durango, so far south in Colorado you could kiss New Mexico (well, maybe not that close). What a neat-o mosquit-o town! If you have the chance, visit. We are staying the most hilarious hotel. 4 queen beds. And then a random dining room table in the middle of it all.
Is that bizarre or what? We wanted a suite, and this was the closest they had to it... ummm... yeah. Oh, and dinner was at Steamworks Brewery. I think it was my favorite meal yet. Wait no, that award goes to HuHot Mongolian Grill in Ft. Collins. But second favorite so far is Steamworks in Durango. I wish there was more to talk about than food. But today we just drove and ate. We also bought a couple of souvenirs. Tourists, in every sense of the word. I did go the wrong way today- I don't get all of the one way roads... They just try to trick you. Meanies...

So last two things: At steamworks, we ordered a Buffalo Reuben (all my dad, not at all me), a Navajo Taco (that was mine, taco stuff ontop of Navajo fry bread), and Spinach enchiladas. All very good- well, except for the buffalo.
And then after dinner we saw this sign, and my mom and aunt had to get their groove on...

The sign was hilarious: "No dancing to live music as per city ordinance." PFT...

Good times...

Anne Marie!! I'm loving your blog over here. You are such a good writer. I especially like the food details because I feel like I'm eating the food along with you. Do you watch food network? I think you'd love 40$ a day with Rachael Ray. :)
