I guess this is home now

For the few readers I may still have, I thought it would be good to give a long-overdue update. Since I have a lot of studying to do, it will be random.

* I now have an apartment in North Carolina, which is so weird to say. I share it with two great ladies- Lucy and Catherine.
* I live in a subdivision called Flaherty Farms. It is not a farm, but I still think the name suits it. There are deer that come out from the woods, just behind our porch. It is a little off the beaten path here. The speed limit inside Flaherty Farms is 7 and a half. Yes, all the signs say 7 1/2. I have next to no cell phone reception, if any at all. And Flaherty Farms is like a little commune of seminarians and their families. Not normal. At least not for this city girl.
* This semester, I have four fantastic classes that I'm taking this first semester (it was 5, but I decided I just couldn't handle that). If you wanna know, the classes are New Testament, Hermeneutics, Biblical Greek and Church History. I'll blog more on those classes later. For now I'll just say that I was MORE than overwhelmed at first, but after a week of getting settled (and much study of Philippians 4:13), I think I just might survive.
* Yesterday was my 24th birthday. I cannot explain how wonderful, bizarre, sad and adventurous it was to celebrate my birthday here, in my new home. My friends (both living here and visiting) got me gifts, balloons, cupcakes, and just a great time. I still missed traditions though. I missed my parents waking me up. I missed phone calls (again, I have no reception here). I missed a sense of normalcy.
* We did a huge thing yesterday, which I loved... we took a little road trip for the day to Charlotte, NC to see John Mayer! Yay! What a way to celebrate a birthday. Too bad John Mayer didn't call me on stage or anything. I was about a 17-minute walk from the stage, out on the lawn, so he probably wanted to call me up there, but his manager stopped him. The show must go on, they say...
That's pretty much all for now. I've really gotta study. The humor has been sucked out of me temporarily, due to exhaustion. But as soon as it comes back, I have got some great (crazy) things to share about life up here. So stay tuned, readers. You are not forgotten.
