How would you ask them?

Due to my supposed "moving violation" in May, I had to take an online driving school course. I got to the section on safety (seat belts, child seats, air bags, etc) and I was intrigued...

MAN, MACHINE AND ENVIRONMENT
TOPIC 5: SAFETY EQUIPMENT

SUBJECT 4: Air Bags

When air bags were introduced in the early 1990's, there was considerable debate on how fast they should deploy. Those who argued that the bag should deploy rapidly enough to protect unbelted occupants of the front seat won the day. The force this requires is a problem for smaller people and people who might be positioned close to the air bag - primarily infants, children, and adults under five feet, five inches tall. Infants and small adults should be seated in the rear of the vehicle equipped with dual air bags protecting the front seat. If this is not possible, they should position their seat as far back from the air bag as possible.

I've highlighted the important parts up there. My question to you is:

How would you ask your vertically challenged adult friends to sit in the back seat. What if they are the only passengers? Or better still, I can just see a shotgun scenario, where you have to tell the shotgun "winner" that they are not eligible because they are 5'5" or less. Can you imagine having one of those signs like they have at the fair that reads, "You must me THIS tall to get on."

I actually LIKE the idea of "You must be this tall...", it eliminates that embarrassing moment when you have to say, "Um, Gertrude, honey, you have the height of a 7 year old...." (I've changed the name to avoid lawsuits:)....

I'd have to sit in the back.. probably in the child car seat.

::embarrassing::

same here merari.

well,

if they really think we should sit in the back,
they shouldn't let us drive either... considering both seats are up front.

or maybe they could put the steering wheel in the back.. hmmm
