Productive? or Dilly-dallying?

I got this fortune cookie today- In case you can't see it, it says:
"You will live a long life and eat many fortune cookies."
I have problems with this fortune.
1. How do they know?
2. How long is a long life?
3. Who told them I like fortune cookies?
4. Since when is it kosher to brainwash customers into buying more of their product?
5. Are the makers of fortune cookies interested in what is kosher? Probably not- that seems like a Jewish thing...
6. Who are they? The people demand to know. Whoever writes these 'fortunes' certainly makes bold statements, considering he/she is hiding behind the curtain of his/her own witty (or usually ridiculous) statements.
...If I had categories, I would add fortune cookies to that list. I think I will post them from now on. I eat a lot of Thai, Chinese & Japenese food- this has potential...

On to the meat of this post:
It seems pretty popular lately to be productive. I can feel that. Productive is the new chill, cool, laid back, eezy sheezy. People are like cleaning out their closets (mine remains a war zone), learning (that is overrated), prioritizing and organizing their time (i enjoy a bit of chaos now and then), and doing all-around stand up things like changing their engine oil and alphabetizing their cd's (mine are looking at me, half-organized like).

I mean, what's not to like about being accomplished? But for whatever reason, I remain relatively uninterested in that endeavor. It's been nice doing nonsense this summer. And by summer, I still mean working full time and going to school part time, and everything else that I do year-round. By summer, I'm not sure what's really changed except my class schedule and how my hair and clothes stick to me when I walk out the door. But everyone else seems to be having a grand summer, and so I relish in this season with them. I totally enjoyed celebrating Mel's birthday last weekend- she is an amazing girl. Too much fun...
I've liked just doing things, hanging with friends, watching movies, reading good books. I guess I could list some of the things I've been doing, which are plenty come to think of it. Just this week, I've
*changed my guitar strings
*cooked dinner a couple times
*cooked breakfast for 12 on Monday
*read from 3 books, the Prophet, Downpour, and Praise Habit. Not to mention the Bible, so I guess I've clocked in at 4.
*filled up the gas tank (you may say to yourself, 'Self, that is not optional.' But I would say to you, 'You, don't you know how long you can put off this necessary to-do? I know you've procrastinated on this before. Plus, it takes much less time to put 10 bucks in than 50. And 50 bucks for gas is a good reason to put off filling up.)
*got an A on my religious ethnography test! Yee-haw!!! Only 3 weeks left of class. And THEN it's gonna feel like summer.
*ate at Rio Cristal. I know that's not really productive, but it was oh-so-good!
*sang at the top of my lungs in my car (that also is not very productive, but it helps pass the time in traffic. and it keeps me from falling asleep behind the wheel in the wee hours of the morning).
*cut my hair. I should add here that the haircut actually took place last Friday. But I was too bitter to talk about it until now. You see, Betty (that's her name) was talking about Fred & Christian (her two teenage sons) and she decided to chop off four inches instead of just trimming. I didn't have the heart to interrupt her. So when I think about the fact that my hair is much shorter, boyishly so... I will just pray for her and her sons, and this will keep me from being bitter. That's the idea anyway; it hasn't worked so far.
*talked with Grandma. This is actually very taxing. She has a short memory span- about 5 seconds (think Dory from Finding Nemo). Here was one of our conversations this week:
G-ma: How old are you?
Me: I'm 22.
G-ma: I'm too young to have a 22 year old granddaughter.
Me: I'm your youngest grandchild.
G-ma: How old is the oldest?
Me: Almost 40.
G-ma: No! (Drops jaw in disbelief, and then puzzled, asks me) How old are you?
Looking back on this conversation, I suppose I would have to file this under the 'not-productive' category. Oh well, I tried...

Again on record to say that your Grandma is ADORABLE! Not THAT'S productive!

The best fortune cookie I ever got was, "Simplicity in style will bring desirous eyes your way." I love it! I did a photo project using fortune cookie fortunes...I've yet to print it though.
Hmm...I need to look for that roll of film...
