Just what the doctor ordered

Being a girl... that is a funny thing. Fun most of the time, especially Friday. I met up with my long lost high school best friend, Marianne. Oh, the good old days, when people weren't sure which was Marianne and which was Anne Marie. I believe that was God's plan, His holy sense of humor :) She has since then gone off to UF for her B.A. and now UNC Chapel Hill for a Master's in Speech pathology. Kudos!!! Home for the week, we decided to get together. And after work on Friday, we met up (coincidentally) at Friday's... I had an asian salad. I was pretty impressed. That salad has zip! And then we headed over to Old Navy and I got three nifty tees. I wore one last night and one tonight.
On to more girl stuff, Kat met me at the mall and we drove up to Bijoux Turner. That place was a zoo!!! Purses for 3 bucks, jewelry for 5. Women were ripping open boxes, tackling each other, sweating like monkeys at this oober-hot tent sale... Whatever, we found some good stuff. And I found some incredibly stylish stuff. Right??

The thing is, when I got home my plans were cast aside. Plans of going to a party or two, plans of eating dinner, plans of taking a shower (totally opposite order, by the way). You see, Netflix had delivered my much anticipated, completely heart-wrenching, gut-busting, tear-jerking, soul-lifting movie...CATCH and RELEASE! I conceded to watch only 30 minutes. But after 29 minutes, I couldn't pull myself away. It was after 10 when the movie ended. It was perfect. I laughed, I cried. I can't explain the pathetic weakness for chick flicks, girly movies, romantic comedies, whatever you wanna call them... It's hands-down one of the craziest but most consistent things about being a girl. Why am I riveted, when I know exactly how it will end? Why do I get giddy about these manipulative, manufactured, completely predictable happy endings? Hmmm... I'm a girl, I guess. That's how I roll :)
A final confirmation, that it was a girl day- Mel and I spontaneously both wanted to meet up at Chili's. All we wanted was chips and salsa and molten lava chocolate cake. It was poetry. And full bellies on just 10 bucks... (gotta love bottomless chips). Really, just what the doctor ordered. Good salty, sweet, and of course good company and conversation.
Sometimes a girl just needs that... I can't explain, but it was just right :)
