DellChat, aka No Help from India

I'm going to skip right over the fact that this is the second problem with my Dell and I have not had it for a year. This time, I have to send it away. As a matter of fact, Dell has my computer right now. I'm not sure what it is about Dell that makes this happen, but whenever I call the US toll free number, or go on the US site to chat with someone, everything is magically rerouted to... INDIA. I wouldn't be surprised if that is where my computer is being fixed. Seriously. Apparently everything is better over there. It is also more frustrating. For example, dates are all mixed up and they thank you for information when you don't give them any information. Things that make you go hmmm...

(Satnaam_119142): "So, may I create the dispatch to pull the system for depot repair?"
Anne Fields: "well, i will need it for a trip next week, i can't send it away until may 7th"
(Satnaam_119142): "Did you mean till 7/05/2007?"
Anne Fields: "what? i said may 7th"
(Satnaam_119142): "Yes, I wanted to confirm with you so that I can create the case for you."
(Satnaam_119142): "So, that when you will come back to us you do not need to go through this."
Anne Fields: "well, 7/5/07 usually means july, just so you know. i meant may, or 5/7/07"
(Satnaam_119142): "Yes, I understand that."
(Satnaam_119142): "Thank you."

I think it's just upstanding, no it's 5-star, of Satnaam to set up dispatch, so that 'I don't have to go through this when I come back', in her words. I set off for Colorado, confident that the trusty box would be waiting when I got home. And sure enough, when I got back on 5/7 (or Satnaam's 7/5), otherwise known as May 7th, 2007... you can only imagine what was NOT there...

A box to send my laptop away in. So I went over to dell.com and clicked on the nifty chat link. Before I knew it, I was once again transported to INDIA. And what lucky technician do you think I got connected with? Just guess, try and guess!

You got it! Satnaam_119142.
Here is how our conversation went.
(Satnaam_119142): "Thank you for contacting Dell Technical Support. My name is Satnam and my rep ID number is 01119142. How may I assist you today?"
Anne Fields: "i chatted with you on 4/20"
Anne Fields: "you were supposed to send me a box. i have not received it"

(Satnaam_119142): "Thank you for the information. I’ll be glad to assist you. Please give me 2 to 3 minutes to pull up your account information."
(Satnaam_119142): "Also, may I have your telephone number, along with the area code to update our records?"
Anne Fields: "no"
Anne Fields: "it's updated"
Anne Fields: "as of 4/20"
Anne Fields: "may i have my box?"
(Satnaam_119142): "Thank you for the information."
(Satnaam_119142): "Anne, I have seen the last case it is created by me and I have provided you the information that we will pull the system for depot repair but you asked me to hold till July."
(Satnaam_119142): "I apologize till 7 July."
(Satnaam_119142): "So, that is why it is not sent to you."
Anne Fields: "no, i did not"
Anne Fields: "i said i would send it may 7"

Also WHY, if I talk to them every week, do they think they need to update my number for their records? I think they are updating it for their plans of world domination. It doesn't matter. They won't win. Mac will win the whole 'world domination' thing. That's right. I've converted. I'm never buying a PC again... I might miss Satnaam though. We had such good times, mixing up numbers and practicing her English.

I don't think I'll ever buy a Dell again either . . . I really don't like our laptop & the screen now has a vertical yellow line right down the middle of it . . . anyways I think the US is the only place that puts dates in the correct order! It works the same way here . . . today is 26/05/07 . . . strange. Best of luck with yours!

yep. Apples are better. The rest of the world should just give up on their crappy PC's and convert right along with you. Mac is a breath of fresh air.

Anne Marie...let's go over and ask Miguel Angel how many times his Mac has been sent back for service?

Have you ever considered that it's people with two names who have more computer problems?

All my Dells are fine. Maybe it's time to step up to where the big kids play -- Latitude.
