Chipotle, and other hot stuff

Just a couple of weeks ago, I had the awesome opportunity to visit Food for the Hungry in Phoenix. They're an awesome group of people, dedicated to meeting the needs of the impoverished in physical and spiritual ways. My church has adopted a community through them in the Dominican Republic and we're planning our third trip there this summer. While I was in Phoenix, I got to know some of the people who plan the trips, coordinate the work that's being done, yadda yadda. One of the staff there took me to Chipotle. Let me tell you what! The west (and southwest) have got WAY better chains than us! We've got the normal ones and then what? Checkers? Pollo Tropical? Well, they've got In N'Out, Jack in the Box, and Chipotle- wow! I guess Chipotle could be like a Moe's Southwest Grill... which they mysteriously and tragically closed in Miami!

On to the other hot stuff, and more meaningful- we went to north/central Arizona for the conference. It snowed!! All three days :) Everyone else was generally annoyed with the snow in Arizona, being that they were from Ohio, and Illinois, and other places oober full of Christians. But I LOVED it! I froze my fingers off... We bunked it too! And by 'bunk it' I mean we slept four to a teeny tiny room with 2 bunks, and ate (decent) cafeteria food. One day they even gave us french toast. Ooo la la!

I got the chance to really have some down time, which I'm always too distracted for in Miami. It's just really busy here, and even if you're not busy, you make yourself busy. All this to say, that God really got my attention, and had the chance to really work on me. And I could just take it all in.

These are the things He convicted me of (is it only perfectionists that get lists from God? probably...) in this order HA!
  • learn to play guitar
  • volunteer with Best Buddies
  • memorize Scripture
  • pray for LAM missionaries
  • update my Netflix queue - take out all the garbage
  • pray while cooking
  • join a Bible study
  • get in touch with old friends
  • keep blog updated
  • stop unecessary expenses
  • tithe money, time & talents (ALL of them!)

So, it's not in order by priority, just what I felt needed to change... God is good to change us. In my journal I wrote,

"The good news for me today is not that He forgives me (which I too often focus on) but that He changes, corrects, rebukes, and teaches me. I can change, and He demands it." Thank God!

Yay! Glad the Lord worked on you that weekend (LONG weekend), I figured if I had to miss you for 4 or 5 days, it HAD to be for good reason!
